Photo of the Week – 4 September 2011

This Week’s Photo

How could this week’s Photo of the Week be anything other than something from my parents’ silver wedding anniversary party?! Held earlier today (Sunday, 4 September), it allowed the whole family (along with friends and neighbours) to meet up in the beautiful venue of Norden Farm. Although this photo doesn’t show Mum or Dad – the cake-cutting one was a close second, but just didn’t give enough context – it does show their guests, sat around the beautifully decorated tables, and listening to Harriet’s friends singing some of their favourite songs. I also really like the cheeky balloon visible at the top of the frame, which was a gift from Mum’s brother and sister-in-law.

About ‘Photo of the Week’

Every Sunday, I post a photograph taken at some point during the previous seven days. I know that many of the photos featured will not be of enviable quality or stunningly artistic composition, but then the aim is mainly to give me something to nostalgically look back over at the end of the year.

Photo of the Week – 21 August 2011

This Week’s Photo

Given the great summer weather we’ve experienced recently – at last! – here’s a picture from our spontaneous trip to Cliveden earlier this afternoon. Whilst it is, by no means, the greatest photograph I’ve ever taken, I like the contrast between the figure set in (albeit decaying) stone, against the vibrancy and colour of the very much alive lavender and greenery of the Long Garden in the background.

Read more about today’s afternoon in Cliveden here.

Photo of the Week – 14 August 2011

This Week’s Photo

I could easily have picked one of the photos I took during my last days on the Jamboree – last Sunday night, we were shipped from Sweden to Finland, and then the whole unit split up to stay with local families in what is known as Home Hospitality. However, tremendous as the entire Jamboree was, the last three editions of Photo of the Week have been devoted to events from it, so I decided to pick a shot taken today, up Mount Snowdon during our short North Wales break, to offer a change.

I took it just minutes after reaching the cloud-covered summit of England and Wale’s highest mountain, when suddenly the sky cleared revealing the spectacular view surrounding us on 360°. Above everything else, this shot reminds me what a beautiful place Britain is, and how very fortunate I am – having met people from every corner of the Earth over the past twenty days – to live in it.
