New Church ‘InSpire’ Magazine – 22 September 2013

COFFEE TABLE READING: InSpire goes on sale in church today (Sunday). (IMG_0855)As honorary Editor of InSpire – the magazine of St Luke’s Church, Maidenhead – my role requires me to commission the writing of articles, abridge longer reports, and decide on the layout of the pages.

For this latest Autumn 2013 edition, I made the (brave!) decision to move to InDesign, having used Apple’s Pages application since I took over the editorship in 2010. InDesign has a great deal more functionality and power than Pages, but it is far less intuitive for the first-time user.

Andy Murray Wins Wimbledon – 7 July 2013

Say it now. Say it again. Remind yourself that, today, in blistering heat, on slippy worn-out grass, Andy Murray won on Centre Court at Wimbledon.

CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS: Andy Murray won the Championships today.

Throughout the season, journalists have filed endless reports on the exceptional circumstances of this electrifying Championships. They told us that this was shaping up to be the game-changing year. This year’s action in SW19 – so they said – would be remembered for decades.

And how right they were.

FP3Peaks Expedition Hill-Walking Training – 27 June 2013

There’s now just over a week to go until the start of our Three Peaks weekend. Next Friday, approximately 40 Year 12s (including myself) will head up to Yorkshire in school minibuses. Then, on the Saturday (6 July), we’ll set off on the mammoth trek itself.

Said to be 26 miles long, including roughly 10,000 ft of ascent, we’re looking to complete the course in under ten hours.

Having missed last week’s training hike to participate in my church’s Music Festival, I joined four others for a hill-walking session after-school today.
